Thanks to my rad husband we finally got to go on our vacation we've been saving up for all year. He totally got them to reschedule our trip after we thought we lost all our $$$. So we cruized down to mexico for 6 days and laid out, slept in, ate waaayyy too much food and even took some mid-day naps. And let me tell you ... we needed it.
Our resort, los Dreams, was super awesome. It definitely had the best beach of any beaches we saw and there was some freakin wild life around...sting rays just swimming next to us in the ocean, iguanas cruising under our table at dinner, and of course the neighborhood cat hanging out. I would definitely recommend the all-inclusive (especially if you want to get fat!). Luckily I was pregnant so we had an excuse not to drink because there was some serious pressure! But virgin pina coladas in the pool are still awesome.
Best part of the trip - deep sea fishing and seeing like 50 dolphins up close. I've never seen wild dolphins, even living in Hawaii for 3 years. Awesome!
2nd best part of the trip - Local surfing adventure. Of course Jeff had to surf in Mexico so we asked everyone and apparently Mexicans don't really surf a lot. But we finally found out about a little surf town in another state and decided to take an hour and a half taxi ride over there. Luckily Jeff was jamming out his Espanol. All the cab drivers loved him so we could actually get around. The surf town was pretty cool, but the waves were small kine. Perfect for me (being prego on vacation, not so awesome), but way too small for wulicious. Whatever though... Santa Cruz in a wet suit on Saturday, Mexico in bath water on Tuesday, that should quench his surf thirst for now. The bus ride home was pretty exciting too ... a taste of the local-ness. I've definitely never been so swassy in my life. And I still have 300 pesos in my wallet that I really want to send to the guy selling peanuts on the bus. He needs it...sad.
